2005 Catholic-Labor Network Gathering

February 19, 2005
Hyatt Regency Washington
400 New Jersey Avenue, NW
Washington, DC
Dear Friends:

Through the hard work of Tom Shellabarger of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, I want to invite you for what has become the annual Catholic-Labor Network Gathering. It is scheduled for February 19, 2005, and will be held at the Hyatt Regency Washington Hotel.

The schedule for the day begins at 8:00 a.m. with Mass at the Hyatt Regency. Following Mass, we will have two presentations. The first will be by Fr. John J. O'Brien, C.P. Fr. O'Brien is the author of the recently published George G. Higgins and the Quest for Worker Justice: The Evolution of Catholic Social Thought in America, through Sheed & Ward. He will discuss Currents in Catholic Social Teaching. He will also touch on issues raised in his new book.

Following Fr. O'Brien's presentation, a panel of leaders and activists will address Issues Confronting Working People. This will be an opportunity for folks to both listen to folks daily engaged in working people's issues, as well as ask questions of the panel members, and add one's own experiences.

The day will culminate with a Catholic-Labor Network Gathering Luncheon. During the lunch, our keynote will be given by Kim Bobo, Executive Director of the National Interfaith Committee for Worker Justice.

If you are on my mailing list, you have or will be receiving a mailing from Tom Shellabarger and the Social Development and World Peace Office. This will be a complete registration packet for the Catholic-Labor Network Gathering as well as  the entire USCCB Social Ministry Gathering.

If, however, you are not on my mailing list:
  1. Send me your mailing information (address, email, phone, fax, etc.) to: sinclair@pernet.net, and I will add you to my data base.
